What are some of the emerging technologies you have used? How do the tie into the 21st century?

The Emerging Technology I currently use in my classroom is Google Earth and SMART Board. I hope to incorporate other technologies as I have time to learn and explore them so that I can properly integrate them into my curriculum. I would like to start having my students reply to a weekly blog instead of writing a journal and have them use Moodle as the main instructional piece in my classroom. As I have said before, in order for me to prepare my students for today's demanding workforce, I must think "out of the box" and I myself stay up-to-date on the 21st Century Learning and Technology!

I'm not sure I actually use emerging technology. I'm really not big on technology for fun and social things, but I do look for things to use in my classroom. I would like to use a document projector in my class. I already have a Smart Board and a projector in my ceiling. I use the Smart Board to enhance my lessons with online activities, and some of the Smart Board lessons or Powerpoint shows. I guess they tie into 21st century skills through the technology component. Other than that, I'm not even sure what the emerging technologies are!

I wanted to do my presentation on something I didn't know; in other words, what could I teach myself. I read over many articles and blogs regarding the pros and cons of using Wikipedia in the classroom and I realized the ones who are opposed are the ones who don't know how to utilize it.

After reviewing other peoples' presentations I have used Digital Readers. Digital readers were great for presenting large quantities of reading information without using a ream of paper. Students had a hands on learning with palm pilots that were used in this activity and gave them a chance to work with the disadvantages and advantages with this technology.
