Why Change Fails

I have only been an Educator for three years, but I have seen all eight errors happen in my district.  I was amused at the direct correction between the article and the recent actions of my district.  Bertie hit rock bottom, and by rock bottom I mean, we became identified by Judge Manning as a low performing district.  It wasn’t until this time that the district saw a need for change.  They brought in outsiders (transformation coaches) to discuss the facts and inform us about what we needed…

Speaking to a persons Nobler Motive

 

In getting to know people, I have found that no one really wants to face the reality of who they are and the motives behind their actions.  As a result it doesn't go over well when you speak the truth of someone's motives.  Dale Carnegie suggests that you should speak to a persons nobler motives.  This has a more positive effect on individuals, than pointing out the obvious truth of the persons actions.  For example, even though I know my principal decided to give me an extra load…
